All you need to know about the new SEAI Grants announcement

This week has brought further good news for homeowners who want to live in comfort with reduced energy bills, as Minister Darragh O’Brien announced a suite of new SEAI grants.

• Heat pump grant increased to €12,500

If you are thinking of installing a heat pump, now is the time to do it. There is now up to €12,500 now available to homeowners who want to do so. This grant encompasses the existing €6,500 for the heat pump, €2,000 for upgrading radiators and pipework and a new renewable heating bonus of €4,000.

• Higher grants for Attic and Cavity Wall insulation.

Attic: €2,000 for detached / €,1500 for semi detached

Cavity Wall: €1,800 for detached / €1,300 for semi detached

• Increases for people in receipt of certain social protection payments

The grant amounts are higher for people in receipt of social protection payment including the Fuel Allowance and the Carers Allowance. Contact us for the list of social protection payments that qualify.

• New Attic grants for First Time Buyers
  

• Second wall insulation grant for homeowners who previously installed cavity or internal wall insulation
  

• New Windows and Doors grant - now accessible without having to do a full retrofit. €4,000 for detached / €3,000 for Semi Detached. €800 per external door with a maximum of 2.

SEAI have further widened the accessibility of the grants by removing the minimum 100kw uplift requirement where a heat pump and the requirement of having a pre-works BER B3 or worse for grant approval. This means that homes that already have a BER B2 can potentially qualify for the grants and no longer need to make that big energy jump. This opens the grants up to a bigger cohort of homes and cuts out those extra steps.
